Roots Unearthed: Reimagining Women's History and Spirituality in the Deep South

This body of work is a critique of women’s history through the lens of modern feminism with a focus on women’s inherent spiritual connection to nature and the life cycle.  The images use symbolism and color to evoke feelings of liberation, and mysticism as it relates to the artists upbringing in the Deep South; a culture engulfed in an oppressive Christian narrative and the ghosts of southern history- both real and imagined.
