About
Hillary Stone is an Atlanta-based painter working primarily in oil. Her practice examines the physicality of womanhood, the cycles of nature, and the cultural expectations placed on feminine identity. She uses the viscosity of oil paint to translate embodied experience into compositions that balance realism with material expression.
Raised in the American South, Stone holds a BFA from Georgia State University. After a decade away from exhibiting, during which she owned a custom framing business in Seattle and started a family, she returned to her studio practice. The experiences of those years expanded her perspective on the female body, relationships between women, and the cultural weight of femininity. These insights now inform her work across subjects ranging from the human figure to the natural landscape.
Stone has exhibited in Atlanta and Seattle, including solo exhibitions in both cities. Recent group exhibitions include I Paint My Own Reality at Gallery Chimera, Odyssey at Pulgram Gallery, and Beyond Boundaries at Hidden Gallery in Atlanta. Her work has been featured in VoyageATL, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and Art Business News. She teaches Foundations of Realistic Oil Painting and Relief Printmaking at The Art Place in Marietta, Georgia.
